Call - 2 Fully-funded PhD Studentships in Survey Research Methodology (City Univ, London)
The Centre for Comparative Social Surveys (http://www.city.ac.uk/arts-social-sciences/sociology/centre-for-comparative-social-surveys),
City University London, invites two outstanding and self-motivated students to undertake research and development on survey research methodology, starting in September 2016. Full scholarships, including a fee waiver, will be offered to the successful candidates. The CCSS specialises in the design, implementation, and analysis of comparative social surveys. It hosts the European Social Survey (ESS), a multi-national survey project designed to monitor and explain social attitudes, beliefs, and values across Europe. The ESS has been established as a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) in 2013.
Qualification: PhD
Funding for: UK Students, EU Students, and International Students
Funding amount: £16,057 per annum for full-time study over 3 years (+ fee waiver)
We are looking for two outstanding candidates with an excellent track record of academic achievements and a demonstrated research potential in Survey Research Methods, Statistics, Quantitative Sociology, Psychology, Economics, or Computer Sciences.
The application should contain the following documents:
. a copy of the Online Research Degree Application Form (full-time)
. a 1000-word research proposal including an abstract (max. 200 words)
. a CV
. two academic references
. copies of the transcripts of records and certificates (originals or certified copies)
. proof of your English language proficiency (if English is not your first language)
The applicants will be evaluated on the basis of their ability to draft a methodological research proposal. Topics may be amended by the CCSS team to better suit the centre's research focus.
