Call - Assis Prof in Sociology (Trinity College, Dublin)

Deadline: 6 January 2015

Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin, invites applications for a full-time permanent Assistant Professorship in Sociology (any area of specialisation). The successful candidate, who will have a PhD in Sociology or a cognate discipline, will be expected to contribute significantly to the research output and teaching programmes (both undergraduate and
postgraduate) of the Department. S/he will have, relative to career stage, a track record in research, including high-impact scholarship and international publications, teaching and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Applications are sought from candidates with expertise in quantitative and/or mixed methodologies that align with the priority research areas of the Department as detailed on the departmental website (http://www.tcd.ie/sociology/research/). We particularly welcome applicants with expertise in the areas of education, social inequalities, or social networks but applications will be considered from sociologists carrying out high quality research in any substantive field. The appointee will be expected to engage in wider public and policy debates, and to foster collaboration with other Departments in College and external research bodies. The successful candidate will be expected to be available to discharge the full range of duties associated with this post in teaching, research, administration and contribution to College life and its community over the course of the full calendar year.
