Role Description

The Department of Sociology at the University of York seeks to appoint a full-time, Senior Lecturer or Reader in Sociology from 1 August 2016.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding sociologist with strong expertise in quantitative methods (in teaching and research) to join our vibrant, research-led department. This is an exciting opportunity for you to join one the UK’s most outstanding teams of social scientists whose commitment to research resulted in the Department being ranked first in REF2014 (sustaining its premier position established in RAE
2008) and whose commitment to learning and teaching produces consistently excellent performance in the annual National Student Survey (NSS).

You must have a PhD or equivalent experience in Sociology or a related discipline.  You will be able to design and develop teaching programmes and the provision of learning support, and have a well-established national research reputation in sociology or allied discipline.

Salary:

Senior Lecturer: £47,801 - £55,389 a year

Reader: £47,801—£58,754 a year
